A note from our Youth Director
What can I say about what you will find in our youth group at Calvary? I guess I should start by saying what you won’t find. You won’t find your typical every Sunday youth Bible study. You won’t find a stale uniform group of kids and adults. You won’t find surface relationships with kids and adults.
What you will find is something odd, something unique, something Christ like. You will hear laughter and encouragement. You will hear prayers and stories of personal struggle, talks about real issues for kids in a world full of sex, money and technology.
You will see deep relationships between kids and adults, all rooted in Christ. You will see serving hands as our kids rake neighbors yards, visit homebound members of our congregation, and write each other letters of love and encouragement. You will see hands that will serve food at a church inmate ministry program, hands that help on every Servant Sunday, hands that come together to lift each other up in times of despair.
You will learn how to live out what we hear in Sunday morning service and Wednesday night Bible study. You will learn to be discipled and how to disciple others. You will learn what healthy friendships look like. You will lean how to be Christ in an unchristian world.
You will feel welcome in a group of believers that transcends the boundaries of race, income, prejudice, and hate. You will feel joy in times of occasional games and conversations, awkward and uncomfortable in times of serious issues like sex, pornography, and suicide. You will feel safe knowing that your leaders have your back and will always be there for you to walk alongside you in your journey.
Above all you will feel loved. Feel the love of Christ living, moving and breathing in you. I love each and everyone of my kids in the youth group. Love them not for the things they do or don’t do, but for who they are, and what they were created to be, wonderful beautiful creatures of God in all of His glory. I wouldn’t trade this group for anything in the world. That is what I can say about our youth group.
